Titagarh Rail-BHEL inaugurates Vande Bharat Sleeper train production line

Titagarh Rail Systems Limited (TRSL), in collaboration with Bharat Heavy Electrics Limited (Bhel), on Friday opened a dedicated production line for Vande Bharat Sleeper trains in its manufacturing facilities, Western Bengal.

The installation, established under the Consortium of TSL and Bhel, follows a contract of RS 24,000 million rupees granted by Indian Railways for the design, manufacture and maintenance of 35 years or 80 Sleeping Games of Sleeping Trains of Vande Bharat.

Senior officials of both companies, including vice president and managing director of TSL Umesh Chowdhary and director of Bhel, Bani Varma were present at the inauguration.

The sleeping trains of Vande Bharat will be the first long -term trains of India in a sleeping coach configuration. They are bees designed to sacrifice the comfort of improved passengers, indigenous technology, modern designs, intelligent on board systems and improved security characteristics.

Production in the UTTARPARA unit is now underway, and the first prototype is expected to display in the next calendar year. The installation has industry 4.0 capacities and robotic production lines and is the only site in the country capable of manufacturing stainless steel and aluminum under the same roof.

With an existing annual capacity of 300 coaches, the Uttarpara plant is reducing 850 coaches to meet the growing demand, said Chowdhary.
