Thousands of Mourters were filled from the Plaza de San Pedro on Saturday morning for the funeral of Pope Francis.

About 100,000 faithful observed how the Pope’s body was taken to the Plaza del Vaticano at 10 am, including the night spent the night sleeping in the concrete.

The guest list included President Trump and the first lady Melania; Prince William and Princess Kate; and Ukrainian President Volodyymyr Zenskyy.

The funeral ceremony follows the three days of public visualization of its body within the basilica, which remained open all night to stay in the herd of the internship of Mourters that had come to lend their final respect.

After the pontiff’s body was taken from a private vision in the Vatican, Francis’s simple wooden coffin was placed in a bowed ramp on the main altar of the 16th -century Basilica, in front of the banks not in an elevated beer as rental before.

The rupture in tradition was in line with Francis’s own wishes so that all rituals surrounding a papal funeral simplify and reflect the role of the Pope as a simple pastor, not as a world leader.

After his funeral, the Pope will be buried in a niche within the Major Basilica of Santa María, near his favorite Madonna icon.

Francis died on Monday at 88 years after a stroke, after a long battle with his health.

The parishioners surprised at the beginning of the month when he was fired with an oxygen tank in the Plaza de San Pedro del Vaticano, marking his first public appearance since he was hospitalized on February 14 by bronchitis, which became a double bolt or pneumonia.

Francis seemed to recover his strength and led the Easter Sunday Mass this year, walking around the same hall where the procession marched his body to see the public later in the week.

His death limited a 12 -year pontificate characterized by his concern for the poor and their inclusion message, but was also criticized by some conservatives who felt alienated by their progressive perspective.
