It is sure to say that I did not see that it came.

After weeks of asking why Judge Milton Crawford (Michael Emerson) murdered Andy Mertens (Quincy Dunn-Baker) in season 2 Episode 7 or ElsbethFinally we have answers to all our questions. Allehugh now, we have a million more.

** Spoiler alert for season 2 or Elsbeth**

In the last episode, “I know what you did 33 summers”, Elsbeth Tascioni (Carrie Preston) finally begins to assemble the pieces of Andy’s murder, running against Crawford’s clock taking measures against her and those she loves. That is why it was a complete shock when, in the final moments of the new episode, Delia (Meredith Holzman) kills Crawford, the woman who initially tried to frame the murder of Andy.

Remember, it all started with Elsbeth was taken by the jury’s duty in the case of Delia and watching how Crawford tried to turn off the guilt of her own actions. At that time, the program did not explain why it killed Andy, but now everything has revealed the leg.

When the episode title alludes, the story of Crawford and Andy dates back to three decades, when Andy was working in a yacht club where Crawford’s family had a membership. Duration a summer in the club, Crawford killed a girl and made it look like an accident, agreed to Andy and put it to secret. Until now, when he decided that he had to appear since Crawford has his leg that seeks to secure a federal court seat.

The episode sees Elsbeth and Captain Wagner (Wendell Pierce) work to discover the truth, just for the pieces to fall apart while Crawford uses their connections with Reak Havoc in the New York police, the DOJ and even Elsbeth’s ex -boyfriend. Ultimately, he goes out with his and takes the coveted vacant, declaring the victory over Elsbeth and his team and leaving her without hope.

That is when the shocking turn takes place in the final moments, since Delia sealed the fate of Judge Crawford on the steps of a federal court. On the scene, Delia, full of the horror that Crawford, dating Andy’s murder, walks behind Elsbeth, takes out a gun and shoots Crawford in the heart, killing him almost instantly. The moment is so impressive for Elsbeth that your trust is completely trembling in the next scene.

After Teddy (Ben Ross) receives an impressive score on his LSAT, he says while seeing the Crawford shooting news that Hey cannot be part of an unfair system like the one in place. While everyone is looking for Elsbeth to reassure their child who can still do good in the world of litigation, Shealsites to respond and clearly feels in conflict about their future and yours. It is an unexpected and complete way out of the way the season could have played.

Giving Elsbeth a crisis of faith in her own profession and the work to which she has dedicated her life is much more attractive than seeing how a cat and mouse game develops. Nothing against the liter, but given an option between the two, I would always prefer to see a West character with the decisions that led them to a moment and questioned how they ended there.

This season has already provided us with an intimidating moment between the duo of husband and wife of real life and, at some point, he would get tired. Changing and subverting expectations killing your antagonist is a safe step to show the audience that they are not just another procedural drama, but something high.

As for what comes next, that part is still in the air. But know we will be watching.

The first 18 episodes of Elsbeth Season 2 is currently broadcast on Paramount+. The new episodes transmit on Thursdays on CBS and transmit the next day.
