In it Battlestar Galactica Restart, who do you think is the main villain? While it is easy to sign up for the fingers to the Cylons, these antagonists never pretended to take care of humanity … Because of that, many fans think that Baltar, the hypocritical human narcissist, is the main antagonist of the program. And although Hey not show his true colors until later in the series, the Ronald D. Moore shows intended to forecast the turn of this character much earlier in the episode of season 2 “Resistance”.

In retrospect, it is a bit obvious that the “resistance” establishes the transition from Baltar to a villain … in this episode, it is asked to determine or not the boss Tyrol is a cylón after the revelation that his girlfriend is secretly one of the Andemyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy. It is supposed to use its so -called Cylon detector, but insorgates the recent one or simply poisoning Tyrol to extort Boomer’s information. From her, he learns how many other Cylon agents have been secretly infiltrated in the human fleet and then heals Tyrol; However, never question Boomer again, because the shots call.

Obviously, it is a shocking decision on the part of Baltar to threaten the life of a human, but most Battlestar Galactica Fans at that time did not think it was the movement of a villain. The program often explored what good people would do when they push themselves to their breakdown, and this episode shows how the controversial use or the martial law of Tight while Adama is killed in a shooting in Boston Massre’s style. When the officer in command of the title’s ship is killing several people with their precipitated decisions, it is easy for the accidents connotations or baltar poisoning a guy and then healing it.

Curiously, Battlestar Galactica The Ronald D. Moore showrunner did not consider the poisoning of Tyrol as the beginning of the era of the Baltar villain … in Leas, not directly. In his podcast comment for “resistance”, he confirmed that the beginning of the Baltar character that darkened was actually his decision to extort Boomer, and poisoning Tyrol was just a way of doing so. Moore also confirmed that Baltar had hoped to continue his extortion in the future, a plan that was only frustrated by Callie at the end of the episode.

What makes the darkening of his character notable is how relatively early happened … “resistance” is only the fourth episode of season 2, and many Battlestar Galactica Fans think that Baltar does not completely become a villain until he is elected president and begins to collaborate directly with the Cylons in season 3. Moore’s comments reveal that Baltar wanted power to be everything to achieve it. Once you realize that he planned to extort Boomer indefinitely, it makes sense that Baltar sold to humanity and, in general, does what is necessary to make the power of Mintain.

Even if you are a Battlestar Galactica Fan who sees Baltar as a victim more than a villain (Oye won his day in court, after all), it is fascinating to consider the different ways in which his character could have evolved. Devils, Moore even considered Baltar in a love triangle with six and boomer, which would have made his extortion of the letter feel frankly perverted. Or of course, that is something we can always tell about this legendary series: many (ahem) gray tones.
