RunBlogRun presents Socialing The Distance with Larry Eder Featuring Clayton Murphy (Full Interview), from the RBR Archives (June 1, 2020)

7 Min Read

Clayton Murphy announced his retirement today, on May 7, 2025.

“Today, I am an officer withdrawal from professional athletics.

Pour everything I had in this sport, and I’m moving away, gratitude and a heart full of memories.

A decade on the global stage is more than most professionals will experience and I am very grateful for what every year has taught me.

Thanks to Paul Doyle, Robby Hughes, the Larno Coach, coach Salazar and all who turned my back on the way. You know who you are and I am very grateful for you.

To my wife Ari, thanks for being by my side at all times. You made me stronger and you helped me to become a man that I am proud to be.

And for all those who supported me from the stands or a screen … if I was asking for an autograph in Hayward all or commenting one of my YouTube videos, Thak You. The way I could interact with fans was one of my favorite parts of our sport.

You may finish running 50 on the track, but I know that I will always be part of this sport in one way or another. I can’t wait to share with you, what follows! “
