A vote by Zohran Mamdani is a vote against the reaction center of democratic parties and for a more hopeful future.

Any argument to vote for Andrew Cuomo about Zohran Mamdani as mayor of New York City is as convincing as a Vaccine session of RFK Jr. but the reasoning of sausages to choose Cuomo on Mamdani is that the young assemblyman “would damage the brand” of the anti-trump democratic opposition and “the voters need to play the long game.” In other words, yes, Cuomo may not be so politically daring or charismatic as Mamdani, but if Cuomo loses, a fundamental centrist will turn against the Democrats to choose such a radical. But the “long game” is loser, and it is remarkable how many times the Democratic party needs to learn this lesson.
Classifying Cuomo is rewarding a center inherited by his corruption and ignoring his misogynist life. It should be disqualified that Cuomo supported a group of state -owned Republican democratic legislators known as independent Democrats who blocked laws that would have helped workers. It must disqualify that, as governor, he covered the number of deaths from elderly households. It must be disqualifying that at least 13 women are accused or harass. The “long game” means encouraging a candidate whose only principles are the non -critical support for Israel’s genocide and the prosperity of billionaires (which, of course, will raise all ships).
The establishment demonstrates this case, from Bill Clinton to James Clyburn, they seem to be zero awareness of how toxic Cuomo is as an individual and how disgusting his political profile has become a bee for voters, specialism. People yearn for politicians who promise programmatically, not only rhetorically (followed by a text to ask for money), to oppose the right. (Why do I receive text messages that ask me to help pay the DNC debt? How did you get my number?)
The “long game” has produced 50 years of political defeats and guarantees more. Our few victories since Nixon won 49 states in 1972 have been due to the brave social movements with roots in the sixties and seventies. Everything else has been an almost invisible change around the margins, the performative representation and a bipartisan in the workers who have produced a level of wealth in the tenth or 1 percent higher that is destabilizing and that must already be apocalyptic. With Cuomo Democrats in charge or even as the opposition, we will have to prepare for the Billonada class. Prepare for more closed communities, more private police and more vigilant violence on both sides.
I hope Zohran wins. Not because you think it will success in all your initiatives and not because it is naive enough to think that you won ugly bipartisan reaction. I hope it wins because it will be a statement on the appeal of its platform; It will be a statement against Trumpism and as the special Gestapo war against immigrants; It will be a statement that the people of the city find inconceivable the current mayor with control of the mayor of Trump, Eric Adams, against the peaceful protesters of inconceivable Palestinian rights; And it will be a statement that Trumpism demands a political Answer and not a multimillionaire search for “the Joe Rogan on the left.”
Perhaps the most important thing is that it will be a resounding statement that the centered democratic gerontocracy (Cuomo is 67 years old) that has clinging to the power for decades is as relevant and as pleasant for the ears as telephone access to the Internet. But classifying Mamdani and not Cuomo is not just a vote against something. I find the Mamdani agenda and the movement to choose Mamdani, who is awakening my most (comprehensive) high school friends of high school not only to vote but campaign, inspiring and optimistic in both emotions are scarce. Without inspiration and optimism, it is impossible to build the movement that this country could change for the better.
I do not make any prediction about who is going to win or white, since Mayor Mamdani could execute his ambitious plan to make the city habitable for the people of the working class again (I swear that he was in the bar that was free, even for a tight as Cuomo.
