Meanwhile, Senator Cory Booker (D-NJ) is planning a trip to El Salvador, along with the representatives Maxwell Frost (D-FL) and Robert García (D-CA) in the efforts to ensure the release of Abrego García from prison in the country and fly it back to the United States.

The accusation that Abrego García was a member of the MS-13 gang began in 2019 when he was arrested in Prince George County and asked if he was affiliated with the gang. After Abrego García denied the accusation, he was arrested for the application of immigration and customs (ICE).

ICE agents, who work with a confidential informant used by the Local Police, accused Abrego García or were a certified member of the MS-13 chapter in New York. The same year, a federal immigration judge considered credible the information of the confidential informant and required Abrego García to remain in ice custody while deportation procedures continued.

In October 2019, Abrego García requested asylum in the United States, but that was denied by a federal immigration judge, although he was given protection of deportation to El Salvador based on statements that he feared the persecution of gangs.

Abrego García was released by ice custody subsidies. In March of this year, he was arrested by ice agents near Baltimore, Maryland and tasks in custody. He was among hundreds deported on two deportation flights last month to Cecot prison in El Salvador.
