The New York Yankees pitcher, Luis Gil, is delaying the beginning of his launch program because his right stroke is slowly healing.
Gil was scheduled to start his launch program on Wednesday or Thursday, but the Yankees manager Aaron Boone said that a magnetic resonance showed that the right needs more time before progressing in his rehabilitation.
“It’s just the level of healing,” Boone said before the New York series final against Kansas City’s reais. “So, I don’t know, I don’t know, 80 percent when they start, there are verification marks when you start the launch program. It will go how should go, it’s just that we need another 10 days.”
Gil, the rookie from 2024 Al, stopped a bullpen session on February 28 due to the tension in his shoulder. He went to New York for a second magnetic resonance that revealed a high -grade lat tension on March 3.
Gil was closed to launch for at least six weeks after receiving the original diagnosis, and the Yankees said he would not return until June as soon as possible.
Gil, 26, had 15-7 with an effectiveness of 3.50 in 29 openings for Al East champions last year, struggling to 171 and walking with a 77 of the Major Leagues in 151 2/3 entries. Acquired from the Minnesota Twins in a 2018 exchange, Gil made a successful return of Tommy John surgery.
The Yankees have been beaten by injuries. The right of the right Gerrit Cole is also out after having a surgery of Tommy John.
Jonathan Loaisiga is back after he underwent ligament repair surgery at the elbow on May 1. The right -wing Hinder launched 20 launches in its first live batting practice session on Wednesday at Yankee Stadium.
Loáisiga will travel with the team to Tampa and release at least two more live batting practice sessions before you can start a minor leagues rehabilitation task.
“He is in one leg in a good place for a while, excited where he is,” said Boone.
The Yankees returned to signed Loáisiga with a one -year contract in December that guarantees it $ 5 million and could pay you up to $ 10.5 million approximately two seasons.
Loáisiga made three appearances last season before he was marginalized. Since its debut with the Yankees in June 2018, you read it with injury is often 19-11 with an effectiveness of 3.44 in 163 appearances.
