The lawyer of the celebrities’ murderers Erik and Lyle Menéndez said that the Anatorney have a personal revenge against one against the couple and wants him to have begun his case at a hearing in the explosive court that left the freedom of the brothers without dismissed.
On Thursday, a Los Angeles County judge postponed the resentment hearing already very delayed by the brothers, which will determine if they walk free 30 years after shooting their rich parents, José and Kitty Menéndez, in 1989.
The judge agreed to weigh two new motions before making the final call on the fate of Lyle and Erik.
A motion asks the court to consult a new report from the State’s probation board about Dangerous The Brothers, and another asks the court to challenge the Nathan Hochman district prosecutor, who the lawyer of the Setor brothers is so to which the couple.
The audience on these two motions is scheduled for May 9.
Menéndez’s lawyer, Mark Garagos, and a deputy from the Nathan Hochman district prosecutor gave it in the courtroom, exchanging interruptions and insults before the judge finally called a recess.
“He degrades us and degrading to us!” District attached prosecutor Habib Balian, said Garagos destroyed the Prosecutor’s Office for “retraumatizing” family members by showing photos of the crime scene in court.
“You should be degraded!” Garagos responded.
The bloody photos of the bodies of José and Kitty emerged from the family members who were not suspected at an audience last week, and the shock of seeing them placed José’s sister in the hospital earlier this week, the family said.
Garagos said the photos were of many tactics of “media acrobatics” and “dog and pony show” that question the intentions of Da Hochman.
One of those alleged tactics implied an attempt to postpone the hearing to give the court the opportunity to review a new “risk assessment” of the State’s probation board.
The evaluation was carried out as part of a simultaneous ordination by Governor Gavin Newsom, who can choose to grant them clemency even if the Local Court governs to keep them locked.
That evaluation has not launched the public to the public, but Da Hochman seemed to imply that he will show a lack of remorse, or “insight”, for the brothers.
“If you have minimized your criminal conduct …
“We just want each part of the objective image to the judge when he makes his decision,” Hochman added.
That afternoon, after the chaotic audience, Garagos criticized Hochman’s press conference as a trick that used confidential information to influence the public.
“Based on the analyzes we have done … this is just a movement of challenge of what I have,” Garagos told journalists outside the court.
“It has become a mockery … it’s [Hochman] Did you personally invest in this? Do you have a personal grudge against Lyle and Erik? “Bryan Freedman, a lawyer for family members, said more than a boxes agreed to testify on behalf of Erik and Lyle.
Garagos seeks that the positions of Lyle and Erik be reduced to involuntary homicide of the first degree murder rap that were delivered after two high profile tests in the 90s.
An involuntary homicide sentence would allow them to walk immediately for time.
Lyle and Erik Menéndez were 21 and 18 years old, respectively, when they put purchase shotguns and executed Kitty and José, a Rico musical producer, in the living room of his mansion Beverly Hills. They later affirmed that their father had sexually abused them as children and that they feared both parents to kill them to hide the truth.
A Netflix 2024 dictarium brought the couple back to the national eye, and the recently appeared evidence, which included an Erik letter dated before the murders described by abuse, seemed to influence the previous cause of Da George Gascón.
However, Nathan Hochman has personally ruled out his story and his office has done everything in his possession to keep the brothers locked up.
But the prosecution’s zeal could work against him if the judge agrees to start the case next month.
