The disturbing security images show at the time an Uber driver was killed since the gunmen seemed to have been pointing to their passenger a Filadelphia Hookah room.
Olatunji W. Bolaji, 77, was a collection of a 22 -year -old passenger in his black Chevy Black Suburban in the philadelphia center outside the Hookah Bar by Wednesday about 2 BYC10 moments, according to Byc10.
The unidentified food hugged a woman out of the Bolaji car when two men jumped from a Jeep Grand Cherokee with Massachusetts plates, police said.
The woman is seen fleeing for security when she realizes that the suspects rush towards them with their weapons pointing to the passenger.
The rider then jumps to the SUV when the men surround it from the front and the back of the vehicle.
Then one of the suspects is seen pointing to his gun to the vehicle and shooting, hitting Balaji in the head and passenger in the arm, legs and abdomen, police said at the exit.
Despite receiving a shot in the head, Bolaji managed to get away, but ended up crashing against a light post to a block away.
He was declared dead on the scene.
Police took the hospital at the University of Jefferson in a critical condition.
Chief Inspector Scott Small told CBS News that he had “definitely a physical altercation” between the suspects and the pin before Balaji came to pick up the pilot.
The suspects have not yet been identified and remain released.
Police said detectives are investigating the shooting and are offering a $ 20,000 reward for information that leads to a trial and a condemnation of the shooters.
A neighbor who lived with Bolaji for seven years described him as a kind and hardworking man of a quiet and respectful family. Leave behind a child and a partner.
He said that the driver loved working for Uber, and his family is distressed for his murder.
“Our hearts break for the driver’s family and loved ones following this devastating loss,” Uber said in a statement to NBC10.
“We have communicated with the police to sacrifice themselves while working to bring those responsible for this atrocious act of violence before justice.”
There is 58 homicide leg throughout the city since the beginning of 2025, according to the statistics provided by the Philadelphia Police Department. There were 81 total homicides in Philadelphia in 2024.
The city has also had 446 shooting incidents this year, which resulted in 239 victims or April 17.
In 2024, the city had a total of 635 shootings resulted in 296 victims.
