FSU student recalls frantically ‘chewing’ gum to help cover classroom windows as gunfire rang out during fatal shooting

A student at Florida State University recalled the terrifying moment in which he and his classmates used gum to cover the windows of his classroom with paper, since the shots last Thursday’s mass shooting.

Jeffrey Lafray told Good Morning America, the shots exploded when he and other fast -thought students began to chew a gum after the teacher realized that they did not have a tape without birds to secure paper sheets in the gunman.

“I listen to pop pop pop,” he said during Friday’s interview.

“The teacher was asking if any of us had adhesive tape to record some paper. And no one had adhesive tape and, therefore, some of us, we just got out of gum and we started chewing to be able to paste some paper to the windows.”

The shooter, identified by the police as Phoenix Ikner, a 20 -year -old FSU student who is the son of the deputy of the Sheriff of Leon County, killed two people and wounded another five when he opened fire against the Tallahassee Dettay campus. Stepmotdy.

The first to respond strongly armed converged in the area and faced the gunman, who, according to the officers, refused to fulfill the orders before the police shot him.

Ikner was among the treaties in a local hospital and is expected to survive.

Two employees of Aramark, Tiru Chabba, 45, and Robert Morales, were identified as the two victims killed in the deadly attack.

A reason behind the fatal shooting has not been revealed.
