One of the fastest baseball players heads to the main leagues.
The Rays promoted gardener Chandler Simpson from Triple-A Durham on Friday before his 1-0 defeat against the Yankees.
Simpson received the call after public services player Richie Palacios gets used to the Kured list with a right knee sprain.
The 24-year-old robbed 104 bases in High-A and Double-A Affiliates of Tampa Bay last season.
Hello, he also led all the minor leagues with an average bat of .355.
Simpson was recruited by the Rays in the second round of the 2022 MLB draft and since then has climbed to the team number 7 of the MLB pipe.
Duration of his mandate in the minor leagues, Simpson has stolen 224 bases in 250 games, for a success rate of 86.5 percent.
People around the major leagues have noticed Simpson’s unique style of play, since their speed and skill skills resemble the players of previous generations.
The former MLB gardener, Marquis Grisom, created the nickname “Little Tony Gwynn” for Simpson, saying that Georgia’s native game style is similar to the Hall of Fame.
“I would buy a ticket to see him play,” they told The Athletic by Rays Outfield and Baserunning Coordinator Jared Sandberg. “You would simply miss the first four releases because he could already be in the shelter with a career on the scoreboard.”
Before being called to the big leagues, Simpson was hitting .301 with eight bases stolen in 17 games with Durham.
The eyes really returned when he got a single in the painting after listening to a ball directly to the man of the first base in early April.
“I think, in theory, that adds an element to any alignment with how fast it is, his contact ability,” said Rays manager Kevin Cash, on Friday afternoon, from MLB.com.
“I think you will have a chance here, a little of a track. We’ll see. I don’t know if it will be a short, long and long period.”
