The depth of the Gotham FC list is being tested.
After collecting his first victory of the season on Saturday, Gotham (1-2-1) flew to Los Angeles this week for the beginning of a three-day road trip.
Gotham opened the trip on Friday with a 4-0 victory over Angel City FC.
They are scheduled to play at Portland Thorns on Monday and at Washington Spirit on April 26 before returning home.
“Obviously, we need to prepare the team to win each game. That is our goal,” Gotham FC coach Juan Carlos Amorós said Thursday. “But at the same time, we try to protect the players and the safety of the players always comes first … we need the depth of the team to really show. We need players to intensify. We need the team to become mentally strong.
The challenge of an exhausting walk through the country as this is exacerbated by the blows of injuries that the team has already suffered this season.

Gotham opened the training camp without the star midfielder Rose Lavelle, who is still in the repair of low season foot surgery.
And the club’s captain, tender Davidson, suffered an anterior cruciate ligament torn from season in the third game of the team season.
Sofia Cook (thigh) and the veteran defender Stevens (back) were included in the Availability Report of the Team for Friday’s game, but they are considered day by day, according to the team.
The goalkeepers Shelby Hogan and Ryan Campbell are also outside of injuries.

Hogan has been based on the 45 -day injury list after undergoing what Amorós described as a “small procedure” on his thumb. Campbell will also miss this three games swing after hurting his shoulder.
His absences led Michelle Betas, Gotham’s assistant coach, to get out of retirement to serve as support.
The team also signed the former Princeton goalkeeper, Tyler McCamey, as a replacement for short -term injuries.
Team health is your greatest concern at this time.
But Gotham hopes he can use his first victory as Momentum Builder.
“We have to support each other and make sure everyone is ready,” said defender Jess Carter. “Whether you start the game, whether you go, whether you don’t go, they are all very important. And I think everyone, hopefully, realize that. And we all need to be in our game ‘A’, either in training, either in the games, so that everyone is better prepared to get the three points in all or in the games that we have emerged.”
