The National Central Office (NCB) or the Bangladesh Police have submitted an application to Interpol in search of a red notice against 12 people, including the expelled prime minister, Sheikh Hasina, a media report said on Saturday.
Hasina, 77, has been living in India since August 5 of last year when she fled Bangladesh after a massive protest led by students who knocked down her 16 -year regime of Awami Leaves (AL), 16.
The NCB processes such requests based on courts of courts, prosecutors or investigating agencies, said The Daily Star, citing Enamul Hoca Sagor, assistant general inspector (media).
Confirming development, Sagor said at the Police headquarters: “These requests are presented in relation to accusations that investigations of duration arise or through ongoing cases procedures.”
Interpol uses a red notice to help locate and judge people waiting for extradition or similar legal actions. Interpol helps track the whereabouts of fugitives living abroad, and once confirmed, the information is shared with the relevant authorities, said the newspaper.

In November last year, the Chief Office of the ICT prosecutor formally asked the police headquarters to seek Interpol’s help to arrest Hasina and others identified as fugitives.
On January 21, Bangladesh’s interim government said he will continue his efforts to bring Hasina Deposed from India and seek international intervention if necessary.
