The Japanese sportswear brand Asics plans to expand its retail footprint by adding 30 stores in India in CY25. The company opened seven points of sale between January and March and aims to add three new stores every month. It is expected that more than 50 percent of the next stores will arise in cities of level 2 and level 3.
Currently, Asics operates 122 stores in India; He added around 15 mono-fog stores last year. “More than 50 percent of them opened in cities of level 2 and level 3,” said Rajat Khurana, managing director of Asics India and South Asia.
The arm of the Congloman India has registered an income of ₹ 430 million rupees for CY24, registering a growth of more than 27 percent. The company projects to grow by more than 35 percent over last year, Khurana said.

Online markets
ASICS continues to see stronger sales of online channels compared to physical stores. The initial company built a presence in level 2 cities through electronic commerce platforms. “Electronic commerce has an exponent bone crop. Digital sales are expanding at a much faster rate than physical store sales,” Khurana said.
He added that a significant proportion of online sales now comes from level 2 and level 3 cities, even at higher prices. “That gives us the confidence to open physical stores in these places. The purchasing power and the economic potential of these cities are increasing, and we believe that this trend will continue,” he said.
