It is the official week of the Draft, with the NFL 2025 draft that begins Thursday in Green Bay, Wisconsin.
An annual sports show like no other, the draft offers memorable moments and selections year after year.
That said, what are some of those moments that stand out the most?
We have gathered the Top 10, in chronological order.
1999: exchanging the house and children by Ricky Williams
How bad that the New Orleans Saints loved Texas Corridor and the winner of the 1998 Heisman Trophy Award Ricky Williams? So bad that they exchanged eight selections to get it; New Orleans exchanged his first selections (number 25), third, fourth, fifth, sixth and seventh round in the 1999 NFL draft and his first and third round selections in the NFL 2000 draft to the general selection of Washington. Williams went on to have a successful NFL race, but only played in New Orleans for three seasons, since the Saints changed him to the Miami Dolphins in the low season of 2002. Okay, New Orleans recovered part of the draft of the capital he gave to get Williams, receiving what became two first round selections (a third conditional round became round) and exchanging selections of fourth round with.
2000: Raiders Select Kicker in the first round
With the no. 17 Choose in the NFL 2000 draft, the Raiders took Fsu Kicker and the two-time All-American Sebastian Janikowski, who had a successful career (2000-16 with the Raiders and 2018 with the Seattle Seahawks). Throughout his 17 -year -old NFL career, Janikowski led the league with the longest field goal in a single season three times. Lane Kiffin even made Janikowski try a 76 -yard field goal in 2008. Janikowski remains from afar and was first in the history of the Raiders with 414 career field goals, with her 436 combined field goals tied in the tenth place in the history of the NFL. It also stands as the highest kicker written in the 21st century.
2003: You forgot something!
Make an exchange that rotates the draft can be stressful and stimulating. In the 2003 NFL draft, the Minnesota Vikings and Baltimore Ravens joined for one of the strangest moments in the history of the League. Accepting an exchange with the Ravens to retreat from NO. 7 At number 10 and also receive their Fourth and Sixth Round Draft team, the Vikings reported the exchange to the League office before the time to select expired, but Baltimore did not do the same. What happened as a result? The Vikings were omitted, and the Jacksonville Jaguars were placed on the clock. In the end, Minnesota still chose the ninth, with Baltimore staying at number 10, and both teams would work well; The Vikings selected the defensive Tackle and the future five times there
2004: the trade of all operations
There are chaotic drafts, and then there is the NFL 2004 draft. Although the Ole Miss field marshal, Eli Manning, made it known to the Chargers of Diego Sanán who did not want to play for the franchise, they touched him anyway with the first general selection. Then, the New York giants achieved a successful exchange to acquire Manning, sending the fourth general selection (the field marshal of the North Carolina State Philip Rivers), their third round of 2004 and its first and fifteen in the Diefo for Man. Who won the exchange? It is difficult to say it. Manning helped the giants win two Super Bowls and is the first in the history of the franchise with 57,023 aerial yards and 366 TouchDowns of pass. Meanwhile, the Chargers stored capital of Draft and Rivers spent all but one of their 17 seasons of the NFL with the franchise, with whom he is the first in history with 59,271 aerial yards and 397 Touchdowns. But for about half an hour, Manning was a charger, creating an iconic photo of him holding the Chargers shirt that is never worse.
Sometimes, a field marshal is not chosen where they wait, and the Rodgers 2005 Draft experience personified that reality. The Cal de Cal fell to the Green Bay Packers with the selection No. 24. When asked how “disappointed” it was that the San Francisco 49ers decided not to select it with the first general selection, and Insead Take Utah QB Alex Smith, Rodgers said that “he was not as disappointed as the 49ers will be” that he did not. After sitting behind Brett Favre in Green Bay for three seasons, Rodgers gets used to becoming one of the best field marshal in the NFL history. After the 2024 season, Rodgers is the fifth in the history of the NFL with 503 TouchDowns of pass and seventh with 62,952 air yards and, in particular, helped the Packers win the Super Bowl XLV. That said, the 49ers ended up being a Kriptonite for Rodgers & Co., Going 0-4 in the postseason against San Francisco with Rodgers in the center.
2014: “Johnny Football” is going to Cleveland
It was difficult to find out where Johnny Manziel would go in the 2014 NFL Draft, and the Texas A&M Campo Marshal and the HEISMAN TROPHY Award 2012 finally fell into the third of the first round. Then, the Browns, who had already selected Justin Gilbert, defensive of the state of Oklahoma, with the eighth general selection in general with his second first round selection to select Manziel at number 22, sending to the choice of Philadelphia Eagles No. 26 and 83. Walking to the stage to get his Browns sweater, Manziel made his money signature. Unfortunately for the Browns, Gilbert only played three seasons in the NFL, and Manziel only played two.
Draft’s day is an exciting moment for each young player. For Tunnsil, that emotion was derailing when his Twitter account was pirated and leaked a video with a black gas mask and smoking marijuana. When Tunnsil recovered access to his account and eliminated the position, the draft had begun and the drama affected him powerfully. A selection projected among the 10 best, Tunnsil fell to the Dolphins at number 13, which cost it approximately $ 8 million. However, the now 30 -year -old has had a fabulous career in the NFL, winning five Pro Bowl honors in nine seasons.
2018: Abundance trades
Four of the 10 best selections were acquired in the 2018 NFL draft through trade. The New York Jets changed three selections with the Indianapolis Colts approximately five weeks before the draft to finally take Sam Darnold of USC to number 3; The Buffalo Bills were negotiated for selection No. 7 to select Josh Allen from Wyoming; Arizona’s cardinals were negotiated to select Josh Rosen from UCLA with selection No. 10. Rosen then said that “there was nine fog ahead” and that “they would make sure that” those teams discovered that “they made a mistake.” Five quartbacks in total were tasks in the first round, the baker of Oklahoma Mayfield (Browns in number 1) and Lamar Jackson of Louisville (Ravens in No. 32) are the other two. Mayfield and Darnold have combined for three Pro Bowl honors, while Jackson is twice MVP of the NFL and Allen has claimed an MVP award. Rosen only appeared in 24 race games, making 16 openings.
2018: David Akers Asa to Cowboys
AT&T Stadium, home of the cowboys, was the 2018 NFL Draft site, and the Eagles left their first Super Bowl in the history of the franchise. On day 2, the Eagles caused former kicking David Akers to announce his second round selection, and six times Pro Bowler chose violence. When booed by a crowd largely composed of the cowboys fans, Akers delivered this iconic line: “Hello Dallas, the last time you won the Super Bowl, the thesis draft selections were not born!”
2024: Falcons take QB just after signing another for a massive treatment
In March 2024, the Falcons signed the veteran field and four times Pro Bowler Kirk Cousins to a four -year agreement and $ 180 million. Six weeks later, they wrote Washington QB Michael Penix Jr. with the eighth general selection. Despite the free agent field, the Falcons used a selection of the 10 best in the successor of the player who had still played for the franchise. Here, with three weeks, the regular season of 2024, the Falcons Banks of cousins for Penix. Upon entering the NFL 2025 draft, Penix is expected to be the head of Atlanta, with the future of Cousins in the air.
