A team that explores the shipwreck of the USS-Yorktown made an unexpected discovery when it placed a mysterious Ford car between the remains of the weekend, authorities said.

The weak contour of a Ford Black Super Deluxe “Woody” of 1940-41 was found on Saturday by a vehicle remotely operated on the hangar deck of the historic bearer of World II aircraft that sank during the battle of Midway.

A greater exploration the next day showed the car vertical with part of its registration reading, “Navy __ shipping service” and the windshield is still intact about three miles under the surface.

“It’s a car. That is a car,” a researcher was heard about a live broadcast of the expedition, said the Miami Herald. “That is a complete car.”

“Why is there a car in this boat?” Another researcher asked.

NOAA officials believe that the car could have been used by Admiral Jack Fletcher, Captain Elliott Buckmaster or another crew member, while USS Yorktown was bold in foreign ports.

It is not clear why the car was on the boat, although the researchers have suggested different theories. NOAA

The researchers questioned why the vehicle stayed in the boat when the crew desperately threw heavy machinery of the ship that sank to reduce its load after it was beaten by a Japanese torpedo.

“Yorktown’s rescue team worked tirelessly to tear weapons and anti -aircraft to reduce its list [after the torpedo strike]But they left the car, something they could roll down the side? “NOAA officials said to Herald in an email.

“Perhaps the car belonged to someone important on the ship or the fleet: the captain or the admiral.”

There are also questions about why the car remained on the ship after Letly stopped in Pearl Harbor for a repair of 48 hours before the planned battle, authorities said.
