In a terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, six tourists from Maharashtra lost their lives. The deceased includes four residents of the Mumbai Metropolitan Region: Atul Mone (43), Hemant Joshi (45), Sanjay Lele (50) and Dilip Disale. While Kaustubh Ganbote and Santosh Jagdale are Pune residents.
Prime Minister Devendra Fadnavis said efforts are being made to bring back the mortal remains back to their cities of origin.
According to the office of the main minister, the bodies of Sanjay Lele and Dilip Desale will be transferred to Mumbai from Srinagar on an Air India flight. The remains of the residents of Pune Kaustubh Ganbote and Santosh Jagdale will arrive in Pune through a separate flight that leaves Srinagar. The remains of Hemant Joshi and Atul Mone will be transported to Mumbai on another flight.
To supervise and coordinate the arrangements, the Ashish Shelar and Mangalprabhat Lodha ministers will be parked at Mumbai airport. In Pune, Minister Madhuritai Missal has been assigned responsibility at the airport. In addition, Minister Girish Mahajan is a route to Srinagar to manage operations on the ground, said Fadnavis.
Prime Minister Fadnavis said arrangements are being made to bring other tourists from Maharashtra that are currently stranded in the region due to the attack.
