Tamil Nadu remained the highest export state in the country in the duration of textile goods 2024-25 and expanded its advantage over the second highest exporter: Gujarat.

In 2024-25, outside the total textile exports of textile products in India for a value of $ 36.61 billion, Tamil Nadu’s contribution was $ 7.99 billion or 26.81 percent. In comparison, in 2023-24, outside the total textile exports of India or $ 34.43 billion, the state contribution was $ 7.15 billion (20.78 percent), according to the data available on the Niryat portal of the center.

Tamil Nadu’s advantage over the second largest Gujarat exporter has increased to 7.88 basic points in 2024-25 compared to 5.42 basic points of Gujarat in the previous year.

In 2024-25, Maharashtra was in a distant third with exports or $ 3.83 billion (12.84 percent), as shown in the data.

Of the total exports of textile goods, the ready garments contributed to $ 15.99 billion, followed by cotton yarn/fabrics/makeup products and manual loom with $ 12.06 billion; Threads/fabrics/models made by man with $ 4.87 billion and the balance divided between discreet, manufacture of carpets and jute, as shown in the data.
