According to reports, Apple plans to change the entire Assembly of iPhones sold in the United States to India already in next year.
This would mark an important movement in Apple’s global manufacturing strategy, since the technological giant continues to reduce its dependence on China, according to a Financial Times report. The final decision will defend the speed with which India can increase its supply chain and how commercial conversations between China and the progress of the United States.
According to the report, the president of the United States, Donald Trump, has pressed Apple to move away from China due to continuous commercial tensions. Trump recently confirmed that conversations are marking with China with respect to tariffs. In the average average, Apple contract manufacturers in India are already intensifying production. The Foxconn plant in Bengaluru is expected to be operational this month and could take advantage of up to 20 million units at its peak.
About 70 percent of exports were contributed by Apple’s iPhone supply chain with Foxconn, based in Tamil Nadu, which represents about 50 percent of shipments abroad. Foxconn factory exports registered a jump of more than 40 percent during the same period of the previous financial year.
Apple’s iPhone production in India has reached a record, with devices with a value of $ 22 billion gathered during the past year, according to previous reports.
India now contributes almost 20 percent of Apple’s total iPhone production worldwide, showing how central the country has become Apple’s manufacturing plans.
The Indian market also shows strong growth for Apple. In the first quarter of 2025, more than 3 million iPhones were sent from India, a record for Apple in the country.
This growth has promoted affordability schemes such as EMI at no cost, reimbursement sacrifices and online retail discounts.
Industry experts expect Apple to maintain a constant annual growth rate or 10-15 percent in India this year.
“With the increase in the manufacture and growth of local demand, India is quickly becoming a key part of Apple’s global strategy,” experts said.
