Probe underway in Pahalgam terror attack case; Army Chief briefed in Srinagar

After the mortal terrorist attack by Pahalgam, the Security Forces have launched a massive human hunt to locate the terrorist, with the Special Research Team of the J&K Police (SIT) and the National Investigation Agency (NIA) leading the investigation.

The Army Chief also came to Srinagar on Friday to review the security situation in the region.

According to the sources, more than 100 people have been questioned in relation to the terrorist attack. A FIR has already been registered at the Pahalgam Police station in relation to the case.

The sources said that senior police officers and NIA teams inspected Baisaran Meadows on Thursday as part of the investigation, thought that the case has not yet been formally delivered to the NIA.

Visit of the Army Chief

Meanwhile, the joint forces of the Police, the Army and the CRPF have sealed the area and launched a massive search. Reports from the south of Kashmiro indicate that hundreds of young people have been arrested after the attack. On Friday, the head of the Indian army, Usendra Dwivedi, also arrived in Kashmira to take stock of the situation.

He was informed about the security situation by the commander of the 15 body. The Army Chief also with the main army commanders in the Valley. Later, he attended a security review meeting chaired by Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha in Raj Bhavan. The meeting was also attended by Lieutenant MV Suchindra Kumar, command of the north of Goc-in-C; Deputy Chief of Army personnel Gen Pratik Sharma; and Goc 15 Corps, Lieutenant Prashant Srivastava.
