As wheat acquisition reaches about 20 million tons (MT), the rhythm of purchases slows down in the middle of the accumulation of grain in Punjab and Haryana. The acquisition until April 24 was 19.86 Mt against 13.58 Mt the previous year, 46 percent more.

But, the Agmarknet portal shows that Mandi Wheat prices this month are around ₹ 2,450/quintal and ₹ 2,500/quintal in Shahjahanpur, Up. In most state wheat markets, rates are marginally above MSP, while the state average was ₹ 2,446/quintal on Friday.

The average price of wheat in Madhya Pradesh was ₹ 2,494/quintal, in Rajasthan ₹ 2,473/quintal, in Haryana ₹ 2,426/quintal and on Punjab ₹ 2,427/quintal on Friday.

After the center obtained the record of 43.34 TM of wheat in 2021-22, the acquisition has continually lost the objective in the last three years, since the government could buy 18.79 TM in 2022-23 (Objective 44.4 MT), 26.2 MT1 and 26.1 2024-25 (Objective 37.3 MT).
