Luckily, Leon has an encounter with Mathilda Lando (Natalie Portman), the young and problematic girl who lives in the apartment in the hall, and realizes that her father (Michael Badalucco) has attracted a bad company in the form of Norman Stansfield by Gary Oldman, a corrupt agent of the DEA that the moonlight in the trade of drug trafficking.
Upon learning that all her family was killed by Stansfield and her thugs, Mathilda looks for Leon with the intention of learning her paths when she joins two and two and realizes that he is a hired murderer. At first, Leon likes Mathilda when she makes a sacrifice, she can refuse to take care of domestic duties such as purchases and cleanliness, as well as teach her to read.
