Joe Flacco is back with the Cleveland Browns.
After spending the 2024 season with the Indianapolis Colts, Flacco recently signed a one -year contract to meet with the Browns, with whom the 2023 season spent.
What will be Flacco’s role next season? Is the Marshal of the Field Field or the backup?
“I don’t think there is any expectation of exactly who will be the starting seafood,” Flacco said in an interview with ESPN Cleveland on Wednesday morning. “So, you know, I am excited to enter that room and show that I have a lot of football ahead of me and my team’s son and do everything possible to try all those things, just like you would always be when your son of a new situation and you want to be the guy.”
Deshaaun Watson is expected to lose the entire 2025 season due to a torn Achilles, Flacco and Kenny Pickett make up the Cleveland field marshal room; The Browns acquired Pickett, a first round of 2022 draft of the Pittsburgh Steelers with 25 openings of the career NFL, of the Philadelphia Eagles for Campal Mariscal Dorian Thompson-Robinson and a Quinta Round selection in March.
As for the 40 -year -old Flacco, he had six openings and appeared in eight games in total for the colts last season. In these games, the veteran totaled 1,761 air yards, 12 pass touchdowns, seven interceptions and a 90.5 pin rating while completing 65.3% of its passes.
Flacco began five regular seasonal games for the Browns in 2023 because Watson suffered a shoulder injury of the season at the beginning of the season, with the team with 4-1 under the center. In those five games, Flacco totaled 1,616 air yards, 13 pass touchdowns, eight interceptions and a 90.2 pin rating while completing 60.3% of their passes and helped Cleveland win a position on the wild card. Flacco proceeded to sign a one year agreement with the Colts in the low season after the defeat of Cleveland’s Commodines Round to the Houston Texans.
What should Cleveland Browns do with him? 2 Select?

While Picktt and Flacco are presumable No. 1 and 2 in the depth table of quarterback, the browns still have the selection No. 2 in the NFL 2025 draft, as well as the no. 33 pick. One of those two selections could be used potentially in a quarterback (Colorado’s Caseseur Sanders in No. Jalen Milroe of Alabama in No. 33?).
Regardless of whether the Browns take a field marshal, Flacco is optimistic in 2025.
“I love football. I still feel that I can do it at a high level … I do not regret my life. This is one of those things, as, if I still feel that I can do it and someone else still feels as if a GOFHD would regret not having done,” Flacco said. “And then I also have five children at home, and I have to get away from them, you know, a little.”
The Browns come from a 3-14 season that saw that their offensive ended in the NFL in annotations (15.2 points per game) and 28 in total yards (300.8 total yards per game).
