478 Nails Found with Sharp Ends Up on Roads, Driveways in MA

The police are investigating after discovering almost 500 large nails placed with their points in streets and roads in Falmouth, Massachusetts.

Police brought together hundreds of nails that could have caused serious damage to resident vehicles after an officer noticed them around 2:00 am on Friday, Wjar said.

In a publication on social networks on Friday, the Falmouth Police Department detailed the discovery and said that officer Chapman was patrolling John Parker Road when he saw the nails on the road.

The agency said:

The officers reviewed the area on foot and location more nails in Clark Street, Old Barnstable Road and Prince Henry Drive. Some nails were placed under the tires of the vehicle in the entrances. The officers with the help of the DPW collected 478 nails. If you have any camera information or material of this incident, communicate with Officer Chapman.

Users of social networks quickly shared their thoughts, a person writing: “People are absolutely sick! This is very dangerous. I hope they find who has done it.”

“Excellent job! With luck, someone has images of the camera of the guilty,” said another user.

Another person praised the police officer for detecting the nails and gathering them to ensure that residents did not contact them.

“I am very impressed by the officer who notices this and continues to look for so many, especially in the entries. Good job for this officer!” The user said.

A woman who found some of her nails under the tires of her car told NBC 10 Boston that she had heard of the mailboxes that broke but had never heard of someone putting nails on the road.

Another neighbor said: “I could have created a horrible accident, you know? A blowout, the car gets out of the road, hits a tree or a post.”

However, it occurred to him a solution to make sure there are no nails in his area.

“I have a great magnet and I dragged it from one place to another on the way down,” he explained.
