A homeless California man won $ 1 million in a scratched lottery ticket, according to the store manager who sold the prize.
The winning ticket was sold in Sandy’s liquor on the central coast of California. A homeless man, who was described as a “pulmonary time client”, was incredulous for the prize.
“He has come to the store, scratched her and says:” Oh, my God, is that real? “Wilson Samaan, the manager of the establishment who has worked there since 2013, reminded CNN.” I’m like, let me see. Then I took the ticket from his hand [and] I went to the machine there. “
“He is like,” Man, I’m no longer homeless! “Samaan transmitted.” I’m like, “Man, you hit the fat prize.”
The store manager said the man thought initially that he won $ 100,000.
“He is like” $ 100,000. “And I say,” it’s not roasted. “And we cool each other,” Samaan said.
The manager went beyond the client for a long time taking him to Fresno to deliver the ticket instead of sending it by mail.
“I took him to Fresno, I think the next day or Wednesday, because he says:” Do I want to send it by mail? “And I said: ‘That is a ticket of one million dollars.” I wish you all the best. “
The lottery winner told The Outlet that he plans to buy a house and a car, invest, and put aside some savings once he receives the money from the award.
Carolyn Becker, a California lottery spokeswoman, said there will be a “very thorough research process” before granting the prize, since they want to make sure they are “giving it to the right person.” It can take months and, according to CNN, “implies an interview with the winner, verifying if the person owes some money and some other factors.”
Becker added that they process approximately 10,000 winning claims per month.
