Francisco Alvarez’s return to the Mets is close, but that does not necessarily mean that his replacement will be relegated to a rare duty.

Álvarez opened the season on Kured’s list after undergoing spring training surgery for a broken hamate bone in his left hand.

Torrens left 0 by 3 with two strikeouts in the victory on Saturday.
