Mets’ Reed Garrett keeps getting it done in high-pressure spots

Reed Garrett waits for the phone to sound, but it could well be an alarm.

For almost four weeks of the season, there has been a better firefighter in baseball.

“I think it’s just one of those things in which the phone rings and my name is called, and things have gone well so far,” Garrett said before the Mets beat the 5-1 philis in Citi Field on Tuesday.

Upon entering the game, no one in MLB had inherited more base corridors (nine) without allowing one to write down.

Garrett, who himself had launched tickets of 9 ²/₃ without a career won, had not allowed anyone else to score anyone else.

Garrett routinely becomes dangerous and routinely let them still breathe (and arise from the mound).

On Monday, Tylor Megill walked to Bryce Harper and gave Garrett with one at the sixth entry of a game that the Mets led by two races.

Garrett allowed a two outs single to Max Kepler, but used a plumber to hit JT Realmuto and ensure that his perfect streak continued.

The 32 -year -old did not realize the season that the Essentially paper would become rescue the team frequently in the average tickets, but is happy to do so.

He feels well equipped for the starting concert after making seven appearances in playoffs last season, allowing races in two.



“I try to stay as similar to adrenaline as I can,” said Garrett. “I think that launching in the playoffs last year and obtaining the experience I get last year has definitely contributed to my comfort.”

He feels comfortable in his role in the team and simply comfortable in the team.

The Mets claimed Garrett, then an officer, from the Orioles in June 2023.

He spent the whole season on the list of the Mets, then exploded last year and returned this spring as a proven merchandise.

This spring represented the first time in the Garrett Major Leagues race, which in 2019 was with the Tigers, which passed through spring with the same team.

“Just be close to the same group of people and have the same coaching staff and have the same people who talk about where you were last year and what you did and things like that, I think that has been legitimate to me,” said Garrett.


Brandon Nimmo was in the initial alignment on Tuesday, with the manager Carlos Mendoza pointing out that the Mets face a hard left -hander in Cristopher Sánchez and the team in the middle of a 13 -day stretch in the schedule without a free day.

Nimmo, whom he bothered plantar fasciitis on his left foot last year, said the problem has not bothered him this season.

“We are in a good place,” said Nimmo. “I just want to keep it aware.”

Nimmo has only 5 of 31 without extra-base successes, a walk and eight strikeouts in his last eight games.


Mark winds, who left Saturday’s game with Groin Dromfort and sat on Sunday and Monday, returned to the initial alignment and played third base.
