At least one person died and other people were injured on Sunday night when a boat hit a ferry with passenger boxes aboard the Mepoeway Memorial Bridge in Clearwater, Florida, authorities said.

The driver of the boat that hit the Ferry Clearwater, which transported 45 people, fled after the accident, said Clearwater Police Department on social networks. At least two people were tasks for helicopter local hospitals, police said.

It was not clear what had led to the accident, and the police did not say how many people had won their legs. There were six people on the boat that ran to the Ferry, said the United States Coast Guard.

The Florida Fishing and Wildlife Conservation Commission is leading an investigation into the incident.
