Pete Alonso’s spring continued on Tuesday night, since the crucorroteante First Baseman added another double key in a 5-1 victory over the Philis in Citi Field.
And he added an excellent job with his glove, particularly at the top of the second, when Alono chose a difficult shot from Mark winds to prevention of a race to score.
Subsequently, Carlos Mendoza called Alonso “probable the best” in collection balls on Earth on the first base.
“For me, I want to be the best first base that can be,” Alonso said. “That is part of my game and the position and it is proud immense in everything.”
But Alonso’s presentation card will always be his bat, and on Tuesday he reached the dish with two outs at the bottom of the seventh of a game of a race and the equally red of Lindor in third.
Alonso started a double on the left to score Lindor, his 25th RBI of the young season, tied with Aaron Judge for most in the elderly, since the Mets did not show signs of deceleration with a sixth consecutive victory.
The success of two base turned on a three -run input that helped the Mets seal the victory without much late drama.
Alonso also connected a single in the third and was beaten by a launch near his left forearm in the fifth.
The 94 MPH sink of the right of Philadelphia, Joe Ross, was shook and remained in the game after a visit to Mendoza and a coach.
As important as the insurance he delivered in the seventh was the race, he avoided that the Philis scored in the second.
With Griffin Canning on the mound and in trouble during much of the first two entries, Philadelphia had already tied the game with 1-1 with three consecutive hits and had runners in second and third with two outs.
Trea Turner hit a land that winded extended to her left to arrive.
Winds first launched at an awkward angle and bounced it, but Alonso made a diving scoop and managed to keep his foot on the bag to finish the entrance and keep the game tied.
“I gave him a big hug just after that,” Winds said. “He is underpected with how good it is there.”
Alonso has never been known for his defense and his metrics in that part of the game are still mostly deficient.
“I know your defensive number [aren’t good]I guess for the range “said Mendoza.” But when it comes to collecting balls on earth, Pete is in the conversation. That play was a game change. “
Alonso made another good choice at the beginning when Tyrone Taylor doubled Kyle Schwarber in the first base from the central garden in the eighth in a ball of Nick Castellanos.
“It’s about winning games,” Alonso said. “However, I can help us do it, either by putting points at the beginning or making a play at the beginning, that is all that matters to me.”
