US and Iran make ‘very serious’ progress toward new nuclear deal after Oman talks, eye Europe next

The United States and Iran made a “very serious” progress towards a new nuclear agreement for marathon agreement of the marathon agreement on Saturday in Oman, with the proposals written annoying for the first time and the conversations of the eyes as soon as next week.

A senior United States official told the post that four -hour conversations with Tehran were “positive and productive”, but they still warned that “there is still much to do.”

President Trump said the situation is “going very well” Abboard Air Force One conversations on Saturday, warning that it should be a peaceful treatment instead of the alternative.

“We have had many conversations with them and I think we are going to have a deal. I prefer to have a deal than the other alternative,” Trump said. “That would be good for humanity.”

The discussions in the capital city of Muscat marked an important change of the two previous meetings, immersing themselves much more in technical details about the limitation of Iran’s nuclear program and raising the sanctions of the United States, said the Iranian front Abbas Araghchi.

“This time, the negotiations were much more serious than in the past, and we gradually enter into deeper and detailed discussions,” Araghchi told Iranian state media, adding that differences are still important in important problems.

While Tehran suggested that a follow -up meeting could happen as soon as next weekend in Europe, Trump administration officials have said they expect the conversations to continue soon.

Omaní Foreign Minister Badr Al-Busidi, who measured the conversations, said the two parties identified a “shared aspiration” to reach an agreement based on “mutual respect and lasting commitments.”

“The conversations will continue next week with an additional high -level meeting provisionally scheduled for May 3,” he published to X.

The negotiations arrived in the context of new disturbances within Iran, where a mass explosion in a port of the South on Saturday killed at least eight people and wounded more than 700.

The Iranian authorities said the explosion seemed linked to the combustible chemical briefcase used to make missile fuel that were stored in the port.

The president of Iran, Masoud fishshkian, ordered an incident investigation.
